What Does the Process Involve?
In the case where dentures are absolutely needed, the process is generally simple and stress-free. We will first begin with a routine check-up and utilize our advanced digital x-rays and radiographs to determine what type of dentures will be used to save your teeth.
To begin the procedure, an impression of your mouth will be taken, then we send that impression to the lab to have a mock-up created. After the mock-up is approved by you, the dentures are fabricated and sent back to our office.
When Do You Need Dentures?
There are a few factors that lead to dentures. If full dentures are needed, you may be missing all of your teeth, and partials are used to replace one or a few missing teeth and save the other rest of your remaining.
Most patients who need them may be suffering from some type of significant pain, including but not limited to:
- Severe toothaches
- Tooth decay
- Gum inflammation
- Bone loss
- Difficulty when eating or chewing food
What You Need to Know About Dentures
A very important thing to understand and remember when you have dentures or are considering getting them is, they should be replaced roughly every 5 years.
Preventative oral care is the best way to reduce your risks of harmful diseases and other infections. Your face and jaw tissue typically change over the years, but your dentures do not. To ensure the beautiful, durability, and comfortable appearance of your dentures, it is important you schedule a visit with us at Woodmoor Dental for scheduled checkups and cleanings.
Delaying the need to replace teeth, as well as not properly caring for your dentures can lead to harmful infections in your mouth and other severe complications.
